Why We Are Boycotting Black Friday

By Milly Hailstone

I don't think anybody actually enjoys the infamous Black Friday (and Cyber Saturday or is it Shoot Yourself Sunday..?). If you venture to the shops, you risk getting trampled to death - but that's not even the worst part.

For the second year in a row, I'll be choosing to Boycott Black Friday. You won't find any discounts at Straight Talk BN1, but we'll still be open and offering you unique denim and tip-top customer service.

If this isn't your first time here, you'll likely know how I feel about mass-consumerism. So, instead of buying cheap stuff you don't need this weekend, take a breath of fresh air and think about all the good things that you already do have.

I know we are all trying to fill the void in our lives with 'stuff' but you don't need to contribute even more to make 'the man' rich. Instead, help yourself, and if you really gotta buy something this weekend do it at a small business.

I'm not suggesting you should never buy anything or express yourself through personal style. I just think that there are better ways to do it than with fast fashion.

Wear something as unique as you are, instead of the same poorly-made garment that a million other people own.
